Kicking Off 2005 with a New Board, a New Award, and Record-Breaking Membership
(Nashville, TN) SOLID (Society of Leaders in Development) recently named the organizations 2005 board members, committee chairs, and introduced a new annual leadership award. President Andrew Stokes will head-up the board that consists of Vice-President Cassandra Tormes, Secretary Denise Roberts, and Treasurer Luellyn Latocki. SOLIDs five committees are devoted to several areas important to the music industry and the Nashville community as a whole. Committee Chairs also announced include: Adam McKeown, University Outreach; Justin Levenson, Education; Ally Clark, Community Outreach; Alicia Lanier, Social; and Ben Bennett, Communications.
In addition to announcing the organizations 2005 board members and inducting over 40 new members into the organization, SOLID has established the SOLID Award for Outstanding Leadership in memory of Miller Harris to be awarded annually to SOLID members who display extraordinary leadership abilities that help to further the goals of SOLID to ensure the future of the music industry. The first award has been presented to Mane Event Productions Robert DeGraw. Robert currently writes and distributes the weekly E-Newsletter for SOLID, but the real determining factor was Roberts commitment to the organization in 2004, where he attended virtually every event and volunteered in almost every capacity while living in New York and driving to Nashville to participate.
SOLID looks forward to 2005 and plans to elevate its reputation within the industry by hosting additional events that will be open to all music professionals, making this the most productive year since its formation in 1997. In addition, SOLID hopes to spread the word about their organization, their dedication in offering diversified industry training from experts with valuable knowledge and experience, and to alert the community about their coveted networking opportunities. SOLID strives to combine educational opportunities, music industry networking, and community service in a format that is accessible to entry and mid level industry professionals determined to become better leaders and to help grow the thriving music industry in Nashville.
