Universal Records South/UMPG, Nashville Wins 24th Annual Music Row Turkey Bowl

After an intense day of co-ed flag football, the Universal Records South/UMPG, Nashville team beat past champs UMG Nashville in an intense final game at the 24th Annual Music Row Turkey Bowl, hosted by SOLID. The competition took place Saturday (11/21) at Ted Rhodes Park in Nashville. Capitol Nashville/Red Light Management; CAA; CMT; Flood, Bumstead, McCready & McCarthy; Paradigm; SESAC, SOLID/Verberate; Warner Music Group and William Morris Endeavor Entertainment also participated in the highly-anticipated Music Row event.

The Turkey Bowl is a significant annual fundraiser for Second Harvest Food Bank and St. Jude. All proceeds and food collected during the tournament – and by participating companies leading up to the event – go to supporting these organizations in their philanthropic efforts. The current goal is to broaden the scope of this event by expanding the involvement of the Nashville community and building on past fundraising successes.

About Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee: Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is one of the largest and most comprehensive – of over 200 – food banks and food distribution centers nationwide. During the 2003/2004 fiscal year, Second Harvest distributed more than 14.5 million pounds of food to hungry men, women and children. Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee was named 2003 Affiliate of the Year by America's Second Harvest. The Food Bank is proud to share this prestigious award with the thousands of supporters and leaders who have supported Second Harvest over the past 25 years. Second Harvest’s vision of ending hunger is more important than ever. Hunger is a big problem and it cannot be solved without everyone’s help. There are 35 million Americans deemed by the government to be food insecure and there are more than 8 million children receiving food assistance. One in five people in a soup kitchen line is now a child. In Middle Tennessee alone, 47% of the people Second Harvest serves are children.

About St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: Unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility anywhere St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital’s discoveries have completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. St. Jude is where some of today's most gifted researchers are able to do more science, more quickly. Doctors across the world send their toughest cases and most vulnerable patients here. At St. Jude no one pays for treatment beyond what is covered by insurance, and those without insurance are never asked to pay. They've built America's 3rd-largest health-care charity with a model that keeps the costs down and the funds flowing, so the science never stops. All patients accepted for treatment at St. Jude are treated without regard to the family's ability to pay.

During the season of Thanksgiving this is an excellent opportunity to give thanks back. Please visit each organization’s website for more information on how you can help these charitable causes – www.solidnashville.com; www.stjude.org  and www.secondharvestnashville.org.
